A modern farmhouse. 3,660sqm. On the edge of Byron.
Exterior
A farmhouse, set low into the block. Tallowwood, weathering. A verandah that wraps the whole house. Behind the wall — a magnesium pool and a small pavilion for the sauna. A second pavilion sits out in the garden, for cooking and long lunches.
Interior
An Oblica burner. A blackwood daybed long enough to lose an afternoon on. Sage joinery and stone the colour of weak tea. Bamboo blinds drawn against the afternoon sun. Every cabinet, every shelf, every handle drawn and built once.
Bedroom
A scalloped walnut headboard, drawn to the millimetre and built once. Floating bedsides in the same timber. Down the hall, a built-in dresser in painted lining boards — a quiet wall that hides everything.
Bathroom
A Roman bath, cut from a single block of Qariza. A second bathroom in Carrara, with brass tapware aged on purpose. A powder room in checker marble and pedestal sink — a small room that does its job and then some.
Overview
Private residence. Tallowwood inside and out — cladding, decking, floors. Raked ceiling over the open kitchen and living. Oblica fireplace. A 4.4m blackwood daybed, built once. Honed Qariza stone in the kitchen and a Roman bath carved from the same. New Guinea Rosewood windows and doors. Three bedrooms. A pool, a sauna pavilion, a studio above the garage.
